Materials Needed

Background Fabric

  • Fabric A1: 4 pieces of 1¾” x 1¾”

  • Fabric A2: 4 pieces of 1” x 1”

Print Fabric

  • Fabric B1: 4 pieces of 1¾” x 1¾”

  • Fabric B2: 1 piece of 1½” 1½”

Instructions

  1. Use Fabric A1 and Fabric B1 to create (8) HSTs using the 2 at a time method.

  2. Press seams open and square to 1” x 1”

  3. Use the (8) HST units to create (4) Flying Geese units

  4. Press seams open

  5. Sew the block together following the layout pictured below.

  6. Press all seams open and square to 2½” x 2½”

Fine Print

  • I would recommend tiny piecing for experienced Quilters.

  • This pattern assumes you know the basics of building these blocks and focuses on providing fabric requirements/cutting instructions and very high level piecing steps.

  • When tiny piecing, I find the following steps help alleviate some frustrations:

    • Reducing stitch length.

    • Pressing all seams open.

    • Using starch before cutting.

    • Starch, a clapper, and a wool press mat gets seams flat.
