Announcing the 2025 Quilt Along! πŸŽ‰

Are you ready to kick off the new year with a fun and flexible quilting adventure? I’m beyond excited to announce the 2025 QALβ€”a quilt along designed to get you playing with your stash, diving into your scraps, or even using fabrics from a subscription box you love.

I’m thrilled to share that the 2025 QAL is proudly sponsored by Cotton Cuts! Throughout the year, I’ll be receiving their Classic Subscription Box, featuring 12 different fat quarters each month. For each block, I’ll be selecting the fat quarters I love to make the quilt block and deciding whether to stash or pass the rest. It’s going to be a fun way to showcase how you can mix and match fabrics to create something completely unique.

How the 2025 QAL Works

  • Videos drop on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. ET on my YouTube channel.

  • Each video will feature a tutorial for one block, complete with tips on pulling fabrics from your stash, scraps, or subscription box treasures.

  • You’ll find a download sheet on my website with printable instructions to make the block in a variety of sizes.

A Stress-Free Quilt Along

This QAL is meant to be funβ€”not stressful. Feel free to come and go as you like, use what you have, and let your creativity shine. If life gets busy or you fall behind, don’t worryβ€”the videos will always be there, ready for you when you’re ready to catch up. Whether you’re sewing along in real time or taking it slow, this QAL is here to fit your pace and style.

A Flexible Quilt Along, Your Way

The 2025 QAL is all about creativity and flexibility:

  • Love a block? Make it!

  • Don’t love a block? Swap it out for one you do.

  • Want something smaller than a full quilt? Use the blocks to make a bed runner, table topper, mini quiltβ€”or even a single standout block.

The layout is designed for 12 blocks, but how you bring it to life is entirely up to you. Whether you’re pulling from your scraps, stash, or subscription box, this QAL is all about what you make of it.

What Fabric Will I Need?

It all depends on how much variety you want, how big you’re going to make the blocks…so providing an exact fabric requirement is a little difficult. However, if you want to pull fabric that coordinates specifically for this project, here’s what I’d recommend:

  • Accent/Print fabrics: ~24 fat quarters (allowing you to use 2 per month, and you can always pull in scraps from previous months if additional fabrics are needed)

  • Background & Sashing fabrics: Between 2-3 yards (for a REALLY scrappy feel, you could try to leverage scraps from other FQs for background, and just pull an accent for sashing!)

  • Border: Around 1-2 yards

  • Binding: Around 1 yard.

How Big Will The Quilt Be?

It really depends on which size of the block you’re doing - 3”, 6”, 9”, or 12”, and how many blocks you’ll do. If you follow the quilt along exactly as I have it laid out, then you should have a quilt that measures the following:

  • If you make 3” finished blocks, your quilt should measure 21” x 27”

  • If you make 6” finished blocks, your quilt should measure 34” x 42”

  • If you make 9” finished blocks, your quilt should measure 47” x 58 1/2”

  • If you make 12” finished blocks, your quilt should measure 60” x 75”Mark Your Calendars
